Live @ The Lovatts Fundraising Night
What an amazing night!
Back on New Years Eve, team mates Gilli and Chez came up with a great plan for a fundraising night. Let’s see if Chez’s hubby, John (a keen guitarist) will play live music for us with his friend Ian. We’ll ask a few friends to come along to watch them and raise some funds to help us reach our fundraising goal for Coastrek 2020.
Once we got the ok from the boys, it was full steam ahead for team ‘Champagne Harriettes Go Wild’. A date was set (Fri 7 Feb), we named the event ‘Live @ The Lovatts’ (since the venue was Chez’s house) and we invited a few friends and family to donate some money to attend.
Everyone was keen to support our fundraising and in a matter of days, we were sold out! We had 60 people coming. More than enough to fit in Chez’s house.
Our team cooked Vegetarian curries and Roti which we sold to our guests on the night from our pop up ‘Go Wild Curry Bar’. All proceeds went to our fundraising of course.
We had several other fundraising tricks up our sleeves on the night, including, silent auctions, lucky envelopes and coin tossing.
John and Ian played the live music for us for a couple of hours then we thought we’d have a bit of karaoke with our team kicking it off singing ‘Lean on Me’. In a spontaneous end to the karaoke a few of the guys sang the Monty Python favourite ‘Always look at the bright side of life’. Both songs quite appropriate for our fundraising towards Beyond Blue.
As the night came to a close, a big thank you went out to our guests for their support and kindness.
We exceeded our fundraising expectations on the night, raising over $2000, which was pretty awesome considering we had 20 no shows on the night, mainly due to the extreme wet weather that day.
As a team we found it very rewarding to be able to put on such a great night and raise funds for Beyond Blue.
Now to get on with some training!
