My Story

20200326 Covid-19

Coastrek walk tomorrow is postponed. Sorry dear sponsors 😢.
When we have beaten Covid-19, Happy Happy Feet will be back to finish the🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️. Promise 👌
In the meantime, keep active at home! Take care❤️

22 February 2020 Curl Curl to Middle Head 30km

Last practice. Walked the actual 30km route. A wet start. Constant light rain for 2 hours. Followed by on and off showers the rest of the day. Rain made everything a bit harder: muddy puddles, slippery rock and stairs, sticky sand, wet and sweaty....  Slower pace. Lost our way in the last 4km. Took us almost 10 hours to reach the destination 😅

We made it, but not without casualties: blisters, black toe nails, aching muscles and joints..... Happy nonetheless 😀 A timely and precious experience to improve on our wet gears and foot care for the real event.

1 February 2020 Botanical Garden

Heatwaves, again! 34 at the harbour. Most of Sydney was 40-45 🥵

Our 30km trial walk of the event route planned for today had to be cancelled. We took it easy today: breakfast at Opera House, taking photos at Botanical Garden like tourists (but still walked 10km in total), 20 laps swimming at Andrew Boy Charlton swimming centre with harbour view. So coooool 😁

11 January 20Palm Beach-Narrabean

It rained, a little! So refreshing! Cleansing the air. The wind was gusty for a while. The waves were strong. A few beaches were closed. Grey sky. It’s a perfect day to negotiate the many headlands and beaches, one after another, twelve of them. It’s hard enough to climb the headlands, it’s harder to walk fast in the soft sand. Walking on beaches suddenly lost its charm! LOL 😂 These 22km felt like 30. We didn’t stop for our routine pampering afternoon tea. By the time we reached Narrabeen, it’s already time to search for a nice place for dinner. We went to Barbuto Restaurant. (Both thumbs up 👍 👍). We feasted on their bbq beef ribs, fried chicken, pasta and broccolini. Happy and contented.

27-28 Dec 2019 Snowy Mountain

We walked the Main Range Walk, a circuit from Charlotte Pass going in from Blue Lake walk and coming out from Summit Walk 20km. It was grueling to shoulder the 12kg backpack climbing 500m rise to Mt Carruthers peak. Off the backpack to the roadside, we braved Mt Teynam peak to have a great bird's eye view of the Blue Lake. Camp at Wilkinsons Creek. Shared our food with the notorious flies in the mountain! Total fire ban was on the next day, so we cut short our camping trip. We climbed Mt Kosciuszko, Australia's highest mountain, then via Summit Walk back to Charlotte Pass. Exhausted and happy 😀

8 December 2019 昂坪-東涌

Visited mum in Hong Kong for a few days. Went hiking with my sister from 昂坪 to 東涌, about 12km. Thank goodness that we had decided to go downhill rather than up; soooo many steps....  Nice view of the airport, very busy with planes taking off and landing almost non-stop! Cable cars to and fro above my head! Hong Kong is a busy place indeed😬

23 November 2019 Collaroy to Manly

We walked on or past ten beaches today: Collaroy, Fishermans, Long Reef, Dee Why, Curl Curl, Freshwater, Queenscliff, Manly, Fairy Bower and Shelly beaches. It felt wonderful walking on the soft sand barefooted🦶, massaging every small muscles! It's cool getting our feet wet wading in the little waves! Soon it's North Head. Soon we were on the Manly ferry sailing to Barrangaroo for a hard earned dinner. Hard earned? 22km really didn't feel very long today!

19 October 2019 Manly to Taronga Zoo

We walked from Manly Wharf to Taronga Zoo, about 20km. It was a beautiful postcard perfect day with blue sky and sparkling water! Enjoyed every moment 😀
