My Activity Tracking
My target 60kms
Dawson Trekkers / Trail Blazers
A group of ladies from around Moura in Central Queensland have chosen to extend ourselves out of our comfort zone and take on the 60km Sydney Coastrek 2020!
Our training has begun in ernest with a number of smaller 7km walks. A week or so into our training we thought we had this trekking business down pat and busted out on a 19km return journey from the saleyards to the Moura airport via piggery hill. We finished this hike feeling pretty good, legs and feet sore but not too bad. Considering the amount of training we had done we were all pretty happy with ourselves.
Saturday just saw us head out on a 12km trek along a forestry resevere and then up into the hills of forestry. Saturday was a stinking hot day with the temperature about 37deg when we headed out. Storms were around but we thought we need to trek in all weather conditions.
About 1.5km into the trek we came up a hill and looked out down to the south to a black sky and lightening hitting the ground. We pulled out our trusty phones to check how close the storms was. We still had a bit of time so we kept going. We made it 7km up through the sand and timber before we called in our support crew to come and collect us. The wind, rain & lightening, was getting a bit too close.
Instead we retreated to our verandah with a cool beverage and watched the storms around us. Sadly they didn't deliver very much rain.
