Sydney Coastrek 2020 - 60km

I’m taking on Sydney Coastrek!

On Friday 27 March, I'll be taking part in Sydney Coastrek, the ultimate team trekking and fundraising challenge, proudly supporting Beyond Blue. I'll be completing 60km!

Did you know that three million people in Australia are living with anxiety and depression?

Every donation helps and makes a significant impact to mental health and wellbeing in Australia, so thank you for your generosity.

I'm a mum of two young children who have filled my life with joy and use up all my time.  Therefore, I basically haven't done any exercise for the last 5 years. This is going to be a huge achievement for me so I'm nervous as well as excited and hopeful that if all goes well this could be the first of many!

Wish me luck!

My Story

Getting back into gear

After a long break due to Covid my training has started to increase - I've already done two 8km runs this week, and planning on walking 30km on Sunday with my team!

1 month to go before the big walk!!!!

Training is getting more serious now!

With less than a month to go before the big 60km day - 27th March - I have been amping up my training.  Last weekend I went for a 12km hike from my house to the local national park, across uneven terrain and on roads.  Yesterday I did some soft sand running training, it was a 37degree day so I only last 1.75km.  Needless to say, I was very glad to be beside the ocean so I could dive right in when I finished to cool off.

I've been told by an experienced coastrekker that its important to do at least one training day of half the route beforehand.  Hmmm... lets see if we manage that!

Training has begun!

I went for a 3km run yesterday and was exhausted afterwards!!!

60km is only a little longer than that, right?! embarassed

This is a scary and exciting day for me!

I've never commited to anything quite as bold as this so today is a day of mixed emotions!  I'm excited about training for such a huge event, but after a few rough years of injuries I'm nervous about the big day.

If you like barracking for the underdog, it's me!

Thank you to my Sponsors
