25 MARCH 2022
You have a few options for accessing Sydney Coastrek's route map. Download the route on your phone either via Google Maps or the MAPS.ME app. Don't forget to update it just before Event Day, a few things can change between now and 25 March 2022 ;) If you like it old school, we've got an epic hard copy map book which will include detailed track notes, elevation profiles and more!
What is the route like?
From La Perouse to Kirribilli, you’ll experience world-class beaches, pristine national parks and views of sparkling Sydney Harbour.
Starting in the heart of the stunning La Perouse, our super 60km walkers will weave around the undulating coastline, passing the spectacular views at Henry Head Lighthouse and along Cape Banks Fire Trail. Enjoy the coastal views through Malabar Headland National Park and onto Maroubra Beach where you will join forces with our 45km starters outside the SLSC at Luv Stop #1.
The 45km route begins along a short section of soft sand at Maroubra Beach. You will hug the coast to Coogee Beach for some more sand fun and enter the famous ‘Bondi to Coogee’ coastal walk (in reverse). Soak up the iconic views from Waverly Cemetery and Bondi Icebergs.
A slightly hillier hike up to Vaucluse will be rewarded with a chance to refuel and hydrate at Luv Stop #2 and the start of the 30km Event. Woohoo!
Enjoy the next 15km of rolling terrain passing by the Gap Bluff and exploring the great sea cliffs. The route will have you winding around the historic Camp Cove, onto Neilson Park, Rose Bay and before you know it, you will arrive at the last Luv Stop #3, Steyne Park, Double Bay. Have a snack, reset, and get ready for the flatter section ahead!
The final 16km will travel through residential streets of Potts Point, along Woolloomooloo Wharf and up to the historic Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. You will snake around more of Sydney’s quintessential locations and finally reach the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the home stretch! Scamper off the Bridge and skip down the hill to the finish line a Milson Park! Hooray!
Please note: All Coastrek routes are subject to change. We attempt, at all times, to adhere to the advised route. As we are immersed in nature, however, there may sometimes be circumstances beyond our control (tides, fallen trees/branches, other safety aspects as advised by local councils) that require us to slightly alter the route. In any such cases these will be clearly marked and identified on event day.
If there is a government directive that disrupts your proposed Coastrek route on Event Day, you will get to choose your own route, based on your local area, COVID cluster conditions and suggestions from us, with all the support and assistance you need. We will give you some inspiration by suggesting routes we know and love in your area.
