Ready to get wild? Here is everything you need to know about joining Australia’s most iconic charity walk on the spectacular Cape to Cape track.

How does the Coastrek charity challenge work?

Coastrek is a team trekking adventure that invites you to walk 35km or 20km along the rugged and breathtaking Margaret River coastline. But it is not a race—it’s a team challenge. You will register in a team of two or more, use the Coastrek Training program, and fundraise to support Beyond Blue. On event day, you will start together, walk together, and cross the finish line together, celebrating an epic achievement of fun, fitness, friends, and fundraising.

Why should I sign up for walking for fitness with Coastrek?

Because having a wild goal is the best motivation! Coastrek transforms walking for fitness from a chore into an adventure. When you sign up, you receive a dedicated 12-week training program designed to build your endurance, strength, and confidence gradually. You won’t just be getting fit; you’ll be exploring your local trails, bonding with your mates, and preparing your body to tackle the stunning cliffs and beaches from Yallingup to Dunsborough. It’s the perfect way to establish healthy habits that last long after you cross the finish line.

Is this just a fundraiser, or a true walk for mental health?

It is absolutely both. While fundraising is a huge part of our impact, the act of walking for mental health is woven into the very fabric of the Coastrek experience. Research shows that spending time in nature significantly reduces stress and improves mood.

Coastrek maximizes this benefit by combining green exercise with deep social connection. Training with your team builds a unique support network that shines on event day—when thousands of trekkers cheer each other on, creating a powerful sense of community and belonging. By immersing yourself in the wild beauty of the Margaret River region, you are actively nurturing your own mental wellbeing while supporting others.

Is Coastrek suitable for wellbeing programs for employees?

Yes! Coastrek is an incredible solution for organisations looking for engaging wellbeing programs for employees. It moves beyond the boardroom and into the outdoors, fostering genuine connection, resilience, and teamwork. Training for a shared physical goal breaks down hierarchies and builds trust, while the fundraising element gives your team a shared sense of purpose. It’s a holistic approach to corporate health that boosts morale and leaves your team feeling energized and connected.

How does the event support Beyond Blue?

We are proud to partner with Beyond Blue to answer the call for mental health. It is important to know that the funds raised by Coastrek teams go specifically to the Beyond Blue 24/7 Support Service. This vital service ensures that every single day, trained mental health professionals are available via phone and online chat to support people in Australia who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or suicide. Your hiking efforts ensure that when someone reaches out for help, there is always someone there to listen.
