If you’re craving a challenge that comes with a serious side of wow-factor, Coastrek Fleurieu Peninsula might just be your perfect match. The trail is equal parts sea breeze, sore glutes and seriously feel-good vibes
. It’s the kind of adventure where your feet might get wet, your quads will absolutely feel the burn, but your heart? Full to the brim.

Whether you’re a first time trekker or coming back for more, here’s why this route is the one to add to your bucket list – and then immediately cross it off.

It Starts with Pebbles and Ends in Pure Elation

The adventure kicks off at Parsons Beach, where you’ll find yourself on a rocky-single file trail. Take it slow, soak in the views, and channel your inner mountain goat. Before long, you’ll be dropping into the soft sands of Waitpinga Beach, for a glorious 1.5km sandy stroll. Yes, your shoes might get wet. No, it’s not the end of the world. Go barefoot, go bagged, or just dance through the shallows – it’s part of the magic.

The Grit is Real – But So Is the Beauty

From Waitpinga, it’s 15km of pure trekking bliss – think rosy cheeks, glistening skin, rolling hills and coastal views that will stop you in your tracks – literally. You’ll follow narrow, undulating bush trails along the iconic Heysen Trail, winding through the rugged Newland Head Conservation Park, with waves crashing beside you and wild cliffs ahead.

It’s gritty. It’s glorious. It’s one of the most breathtaking stretches of Coastrek in the country.

You’re Supported Every Step – But Not Smothered!

Let’s talk logistics. This route is wild and remote in parts – and that’s the point! While support crew access is limited initially, we’ve got your back with a Luv Stop at the 10km mark, stocked with good vibes, yummy food and the chance to de-sand your shoes, because even the most experienced trekkers need a snack and a hug sometimes.

Whale Spotting & Wow Moments Galore

Once you reach Rosetta Head (The Bluff), the views go from “oh wow” to “wait, is that Granite Island?” (It is!). This is your panoramic postcard moment – snap it, soak it in, and breathe. From here, you’ll wind your way along the coastline toward Victor Harbor, crossing the iconic Granite Island causeway to one of South Australia’s most beloved natural wonders.

Follow the Kaiki Trail boardwalk past giant granite formations, native flora, sculpture installations – and if the timing’s right – Southern Right Whales on their annual migration. Yes, actual whales!

Every Step Counts (Literally and Emotionally)

By the time you hit Chiton Rocks for a final Luv Stop, you’re on the home stretch – and it’s all kinds of emotional. The last few kms hug the coast past Freemans Lookout and the beautiful Horseshoe Bay, before you reach Port Elliot, the charming village where Finish Lines feel like champagne and confetti (but with better views).

And as you step over that line – tired, proud, maybe a little bit salty – you’ll know you just did something extraordinary.

You’ll Fundraise, Build Strength & Connect with What Matters

This isn’t just about the hike – it’s also about the why. Coastrek is designed to shift your mindset, spark joy, build resilience and fundraise for a worthy cause. You’re walking for your own wellbeing, for those doing it tough, and with an incredibly community of women (and men!) who cheer each other on – even when the blisters kick in.

Coastrek Fleurieu Peninsula isn’t just a walk – it’s a story you’ll tell forever.
