What is the route like?
You can't get any closer to the coast than this one!
The 60km route begins with a stunning 6.3km stretch of hard-packed Sunshine Coast sand, from Currimundi to Buddina. We highly recommend ankle gaiters and sand resistant shoes to keep out sand and debris.
Once you’ve enjoyed some snacks and water at La Balsa Luv Stop, you’ll jump on board the Luv Boat! This is a free shuttle boat service to transport you across the Mooloolah River. The trip takes approx. 10-15 minutes… much longer if you swim! Jokes… please don’t swim. The Luv Boat will run continuously until everyone is safely across the river.
You will then take the scenic way around Maroochy River, exploring parts of Maroochydore and the beautiful canal estate of Twin Waters, before arriving at Mudjimba, where the 30km event will start.
You’ve hit the halfway mark! Woohoo!
30km route (and second half of the 60km route):
The 30km route and second half of the 60km route begins with a 3.5km stretch of hard-packed sand, from Mudjimba to Marcoola.
You will follow the flat coastal walk to Coolum before again hitting the sand for an epic 10km! This will really challenge your endurance and resilience. But don’t worry… halfway along is the Peregian Luv Stop! Grab some snacks, water, take a seat and shaka one of our vollies!
After this, you’ll head back onto the coastal walk to feel that lovely hard surface under your feet again.
After you get a bit of lovin’ at our Sunshine Beach Kiss Stop, you’ll travel through residential areas of Sunshine Beach and Noosa Heads, always keeping to the footpath and grassy verges. Finish your walk like a rockstar through the main Strip of Noosa Beach and join us at the Finish line at Noosa Woods! Woohoo! YOU DID IT!
- We highly recommend ankle gaiters and sand resistant shoes to keep out sand and debris.
- Make sure you read the Soft Sand Success e-book in the ‘Resources’ section on your dashboard and incorporate sand walking into your training.
Please note: All Coastrek routes are subject to change. We attempt, at all times, to adhere to the advised route. As we are immersed in nature, however, there may sometimes be circumstances beyond our control (tides, fallen trees/branches, other safety aspects as advised by local councils) that require us to slightly alter the route. In any such cases these will be clearly marked and identified on event day.
If there is a government directive that disrupts your proposed Coastrek route on Event Day, you will get to choose your own route, based on your local area, COVID cluster conditions and suggestions from us, with all the support and assistance you need. We will give you some inspiration by suggesting routes we know and love in your area.
